Time to Move On

The most painful thing is to see a relationship dying. You know the love is gone and there seems to be nothing you can do about it. It's like the light is gone out of your life and you're groping in the dark. But the darkest hour is always before dawn. Hope is on the way even as pain cuts through the heart. There's nothing to do but hope, cos you can't force love. Once the person who used to love you madly has lost his love for you, there's nothing you can do about it, cos you don't own his heart. But what you can do is take good care of yourself and stay bright and cheerful cos someone else will love you for who you are. It's only when a grain of seed falls to the ground and dies that a new plant can grow.

Thank you, my dear Vanessa, for giving me that hope and faith to believe I am still 'lovable'. Yes, after all, I'm still in good shape and I'm fun to be with. I'm kind, thoughtful and sensitive to the needs of others. I deserve to be with someone who will give me a full meal of love, not crumbs and scraps left over. It's time to stop hanging on to the past and move on. Yes, it's not easy and even as my tears fall from my cheeks right now, I want to believe that these very tears will water the dying seed and give way to a new life.

Yes, I've made it through many dark hours before the dawn came. I will make it through this one too.

Dawn will be here soon. Soon my heart will laugh and love again.

MY NEW GANG

Truly God is good. He's brought me to NIE where I found a whole bunch of new buddies whom I really like very much!! We get along so well together that it's unbelievable. It's so true that when people play and have fun together, they forge close bonds. There's no end to the laughing and joking when we're together. Even apart, we text and call each other to talk..and after a whole week together, we still do NOT have enough of each other. We meet on Friday nites to chat and chill out with food and laughter and nonsense into the early hours of the morning... This is our second meet up on Friday nite already and MORE TO COME!! Gosh I feel like I'm living in someone else's shoes...

I guess the compatibility is due to the shared love for sports and adventure. Anyone who applies for a PE course definitely has to be sporty, haha.....

Now I'm thinking..I'm REALLY REALLY going to miss them when we're back to school in April. But we're already planning to stay a few days in a rented bungalow before we 'part' for the year, where we will do all kinds of crazy stuff like cooking, bbq, steam boat, card games, beach volleyball, basketball, swimming, shopping and playing at the playgrounds, walks on the beach, cycling, badminton and watching movies. I wonder if one week is enough for us even!!

The gang is bigger actually ..quite a few can't turn up but anyway 6 is a nice cosy number to have fun. Thinking of them just brings a smile and giggle to me anytime :)

It's Not Easy To Be Me

Still Love Swimming the Most...

What a busy day at PESS (School of Physical Education and Sports Science) again! Everyone is looking stressed out with the upcoming assignments. As usual, I'm so 'lucky' - I am the first to kick off the Gymnastics assessment on Monday. Good thing I stayed up to nearly 2 am to work on my sequence last nite. At least this morning I'm able to do some good practice. Well being the first to perform can be good too - get it over and done with and can concentrate on the rest of the assignments. I've to perform a 60 sec sequence of gymnastic movements showing grace, flow, skill and variety and I've picked the song "It's Not Easy to Be Me' By David Gray. Somehow I feel good moving to the song. Well on Monday, I'd do my best and even if it's not good enuf compared to the others, I'd still be happy cos it's MY best.

Today we played frisbee for an hour and everyone's feeling the soreness.. For me, the best solution is of coz SWIMMING! I was truly tired and sleepy before I headed out to the pool due to the lack of sleep and the intense physical activity today in PESS but after 20 laps, I'm feeling so refreshed and rejuvenated again!! Here's the evidence on how swimming helps relieve muscle soreness :

" Take a swim. One of the best remedies for sore muscles is swimming. The cold water helps reduce inflammation, and the movement of muscles in water helps stretch them out and ease soreness. " taken from http://health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/natural-medicine/home-remedies/home-remedies-for-muscle-pain1.htm

Somehow my coursemates like to rub Deep Heat Cream into their muscles to relieve muscle soreness. It's never been my practice and now after reading the following article, I'm even more adamant not to :

Nothing says it's been an active weekend more than showing up for work Monday morning and being bowled over by that unmistakable nasal-clearing odour of someone's attempt to chemically mask muscle aches.

Yup, rub that stuff onto your skin and the muscle soreness will be gone within a few days.

Guess what? Don't rub anything onto your skin and the soreness will be gone within a few days.

By its very nature, exercise stresses your muscles. Every time you pump iron, go for a run, or dig out your garden, you are subjecting your muscles to microscopic tears. Usually, you don't feel them. As they heal — within a day or so — they heal stronger. It's what makes you fitter. Even when you overdo it and feel sore for a few days.

I was stunned when I heard about a 17-year-old track star who died of an accidental overdose of methyl salicylate, the wintergreen-scented ingredient found in liniments like BenGay, Icy Hot and Tiger Balm.

You could be putting yourself at risk if you rub the stuff over 40 per cent or more of your body. The New York City girl put the muscle cream on her legs and used adhesive pads containing the anti-inflammatory. The theory is the warmth generated by the cream gets down into your muscles and helps relieve the pain.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration doesn't think the stuff does that. The agency's over the counter review panel rejected claims that muscle creams containing ingredients like methyl salicylate penetrate the skin and bring warmth into the muscle. Using these kinds of creams is compared to scratching an itch, masking the underlying discomfort.

So what's a sore athlete to do? Take steps to avoid getting sore in the first place. Don't overdo it. If you're getting into a new exercise program, take it easy. Don't increase your exercise load by more than 10 per cent per week. Stretch, if you believe that helps — but only when your muscles have warmed up.

If you are sore, do some easy low-impact aerobic exercise — this will increase blood flow to the affected muscles, which may help reduce soreness. Ice the sore area but for no more than 20 minutes at a time for the first two or three days. After that, heat therapy — like wrapping a heating pad around your sore leg — is usually more effective.

A registered massage therapist may be an option. A session won't take care of the soreness right away, but it sure feels good. Gently massaging the sore areas yourself may also help relieve some of the pain.

But those creams? Unless you're chasing Hank Aaron's home run record, I'd think twice.

Anyway I feel so refreshed now that I'm going to swim EVERYDAY after my PESS, if possible! That means getting more swim suits, hehe...
